Moroccan gold: what exactly is argan oil?

The impressive argan trees characterise the arid landscapes of southern Morocco. They are well adapted to the arid climate. With their deep roots, the evergreen trees can survive long periods of drought. To avoid being damaged too much by herbivores, they protect themselves with thorns.  The rich argan oil is found in the seeds of the green berry fruits. Several steps are necessary for the extraction. First, the seeds are freed from the pulp, then opened. Inside there are flat seed plates. After grinding the argan seeds, a gentle cold pressing takes place. The yield is not very high. About 43 percent of the weight of a seed is available as argan oil after all work steps have been completed. The oil yield is slightly higher when using organic solvents. By the way, agan oil is not only suitable for body care. Thanks to its valuable ingredients, the golden oil is also valued as a food. In contrast to oil for cosmetic purposes, edible oil is pressed from roasted seeds.

Our argan oil is rich in natural substances that have proven to be beneficial for the care of skin and hair. The proportion of unsaturated fatty acids is around 80 percent. A high concentration of linoleic acid is partly responsible for the oil's skin care properties. Linoleic acid is one of the omega-6 fatty acids. As a component of ceramides, it helps the skin to maintain the natural protective layer and to regulate the moisture balance. In this way, it improves the elasticity of skin and hair. In addition, the fatty acid has an anti-inflammatory effect. Argan oil also contains vitamin E and secondary plant substances. They have an antioxidant effect, reduce the harmful effects of UV rays and support the natural regeneration of cells and tissues.

Our pure argan oil is an excellent example of the fact that nature provides high-quality care substances and that questionable chemical compounds are not required. The vegetable oil contains no additives and is suitable for all skin types. Since it is not very greasy, it is a good choice for oily skin care. Dry skin benefits especially from the moisturizing properties. Argan oil from Morocco - our cooperation with a local women's cooperative

For us, it is important that the framework conditions for the production of our natural cosmetics are right. Sustainability and fairness towards the people involved in the production process are important to us. That is why we have decided to work with a women's cooperative in Morocco. For centuries, it has been the women in this region who have extracted the valuable oil from the green fruits of the argan tree. The traditional processing methods are gentle. Therefore, many of the natural ingredients are preserved.  However, this method of production involves a lot of manual labour. By working together, the women of the cooperative have the opportunity to earn a fair income for their work. We are pleased that UNESCO has declared the Moroccan argan trees a biosphere reserve and recognised their traditional use as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Through our cooperation, we would like to promote traditional production methods and offer high-quality natural cosmetics to our environmentally conscious customers.
